TomTom Enters Speedcam Warning Market with Dedicated App

ΤomTom today announced the availability of a dedicated iPhone application that offers speedcam warnings to drivers.

The app informs drivers of their speed, the speed limit, the type of camera ahead (fixed, mobile, red light, average speed cheks) and the remaining distance to reach it. A colour-coded warning system quickly and effectively alerts users if they need to slow down.

The TomTom Speed Cameras app is free to download then it works with a subscription (in-app purchase). TomTom is offering an introductory price of £1.49 (€1.59) for one month or £16.99 (€19.99) for 12 months. Normal price will be £3.99 for one month, £26.99 for twelve months.

The application is available pretty much everywhere in Western Europe except France and Switzerland. The exact list of countries read as follows: UK & Ireland / Austria & Germany / Belgium, Netherlands & Luxembourg / Spain & Portugal / Italy / Poland / Norway, Sweden and Finland.

TomTom claims it has 95% coverage of fixed camera locations and real-time updates for mobile speed cameras. The application is said to be powered by its driving community with 1.6 million drivers in 15 countries.
