Toyota Selects TomTom HD Traffic for Touch&Go

Toyota Motor Europe will offer TomTom HD Traffic service as standard in all vehicles with Toyota’s Touch&Go navigation and infotainment systems to be rolled out from early 2014.

“Quality traffic information always comes high on our customers’ wish list. By providing TomTom HD Traffic as an in-built connected service, our drivers will always have the best traffic information available,” said Derek Williams, General Manager, Telematics & Multimedia at Toyota Motor Europe.

TomTom will collaborate with tier one supplier Harman to integrate TomTom HD Traffic into the next generation Touch&Go multimedia platform.

HD Traffic will cover Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Russia, Greece and Hungary.
Toyota Touch&Go
Month after month Toyota is revealing its partners for the next generation of Touch&Go that will offer a connected navigation experience.

Toyota has indeed recently announced it contracted Local search from Nokia/NAVTEQ for the same platform which is likely to use NAVTEQ maps too.

Traffic Broadcasting
The existing version of Touch&GO is using RDS-TMC as the delivery method for traffic information and Toyota is also using DAB+ in certain cars in countries like Belgium and UK.

Does this agreement with TomTom means an end to Toyota’s support to broadcast delivery methods such as DAB
