TomTom Traffic launches in Russia

TomTom's world-class traffic information enables businesses and governments to better manage congestion

TomTom has made its world-class traffic information, TomTom Traffic, available in Russia. For the first time, navigation application providers, automotive partners and government departments will be able to pinpoint the precise location of traffic congestion and minimize delays by re-routing traffic to avoid congested areas.
The results of TomTom's Annual Congestion Index, released in April 2013, showed Moscow to be the most congested city in the world.
"In a bid to help tackle congestion in Russia, we are excited to extend our world-class TomTom Traffic service to this territory," says Ralf-Peter Schäfer, Head of Traffic at TomTom. "When comparing 161 countries across five continents in our 2012 Annual Congestion Index, Moscow was clearly the most congested overall. This illustrates the pressing need to tackle congestion in this region. Therefore, we are pleased to expand our services into Russia to reduce traffic delays across the country."
TomTom Traffic now provides the most precise and up-to-date traffic information for highways, major roads and secondary roads using OpenLR location referencing in 32 countries in North America, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. TomTom Traffic includes congestion forecasting features to indicate whether a jam is growing or dispersing and estimates how long the delays will last.
